Journalism

From E3 to the L.A. Auto Show, David experienced the gaming industry as press before becoming a developer.

Before learning to program, I loved video games and I loved writing. This prompted a short career in journalism and eventually led to making games myself. In 2011 I created my own website called DR. G-Man (drgman.com) where two friends and I did weekly podcasts and written reviews all about games. After a couple years of working on our own, I eventually got hired at a now defunct website called Default Prime. The site had no more than 20 people working for it, but the readership was large enough that we were allowed to attend most press events (including E3). After meeting a few of my heroes (Tim Schafer, Ron Gilbert, and Reggie Fils-Aime to name a few) and attending some of the biggest game conventions in the industry, I decided I wanted to contribute in a more meaningful way. I loved the short time I spent covering games but I very quickly couldn't wait to start making them myself.
